CNPC BGP won seismic contract from Saudi Aramco, Chinese seismic giant BGP, who is the subsidiary of CNPC (China national petroleum corporation), has signed multiple multibillion-dollar contracts with Saudi Aramco to conduct onshore and offshore seismic surveys in Saudi Arabia. The deal involves two onshore three-dimensional (3D) seismic surveys and three offshore 3D shoots in the shallow waters of the Middle East. It is suggested that the quantified values of onshore scope and offshore parts would be up to USD600mn and USD2bn respectively. The seismic survey requires the deployment of ocean bottom acquisition technology, which is what BGP is focusing on in recent years. Following the increasing exploration and expansion projects in middle east, more Chinese companies have refocused on this business, and it is claimed that marine seismic is embracing its recovery following a decade’s harsh period
