Instant Messenger highlightsFile types currently supported in the new Instant Messenger/Chat application: txt chm doc xls psd ppt zip rar gz bmp png gif jpg swf mp3 wmv rm rmvb csv docx pptx mp4 Max File Size allowed: 50 MB This is 5X the size supported by the Rich Text Editor in the Premium service and roughly 2X the capacity you will find on many much larger competing services, such as Gmail, which automatically switches you to Google Drive if you try to email a file greater than 25 MB in size Mobile Friendly: Remember, with this new tool you should be able to engage from mobile-to-mobile, or mobile-to-desktop/laptop (and vice versa) in real-time one-on-one chat (instant messaging) with any of your IV friends who are also Premium Plus members or New Patrons (Bronze through multi-Diamond). And this instant ("real-time") communication includes being able to share links, images, documents and other files from most mobile devices, which is a tremendous improvement over the limitations of the Rich Text Editor used in our current PM/inbox system. Also keep in mind that even desktop/laptop file sharing via our PM/inbox system only allows for file sizes up to 10 MB and fewer file types than the new app supports. In other words, if you frequently share files with other IV members and/or think you would enjoy being able to chat in real-time when both of you are on IV at the same time, you owe it to yourself to give this new product a real chance to prove its worth.
