Interesting thread.

 

I'd add in hydrogen as a fuel with water as the emission.  Just noodling, but GS raised a very good point in that we generate electricity in excess of need. Why not use the surplus energy at any one time to generate hydrogen which can be saved for future use.

 

I do however like the geothermal solution a lot.
