I think the point was that she told the woman she was from the UK where she was born. The woman would just not let it go and kept going on about it. Finally drilling it down to well you are really from Africa via the Caribbean. It was probably people like her white privileged aristocratic ancestors that profited from or were slave traders. Had to put the black woman in her place.
