For those thinking all sales would become online sales.......<<<...the company continues to grapple with slowing online sales following its rapid expansion during COVID.>>> <<<Amazon had a difficult 2022, as consumers began to move on from their COVID-era habits and started going out into the world again and shopping in person.>>> The COVID lockdown era encouraged (forced?) people to do more shopping online than they preferred. Or, in other words, to not do shopping in person (at B&M stores) as much as they prefer. Some people interpreted that era as just part of a trend of increasing online shopping which would keep growing very quickly, until much larger, regardless of whether there had been a COVID era or not. But IMHO, the online shopping growth rates and ultimate size (percentage of retail), were going to be slowed or limited because many people do want to shop in person, to see the products, and have them immediately, (and see if they fit, in many cases). It seems like fine jewelry (and fine jewels, especially lab-grown jewels which consumers might wonder about) is probably a category that will remain on the high end of retail sales being in person at B&M stores. For C&C, the point is that B&M store sales will remain an important part of the market they MUST address (conquer). C&C's traditional segment cannot be ignored or downplayed. And right now, coming out of COVID (lockdown), when sales may (at least temporarily) swing back (percentage wise) to B&M stores, it is especially important for C&C to make progress in their traditional segment. So how are the SALES numbers doing at the HQ store ? And is there any progress in getting into other (B&M) retailers' stores ? |
