My fear is they would buy gold, and then turn it into jewelRY that they can't sell.....and then have to deconstruct the jewelry to recover the gold, to use again making new styles they can't sell.  Rinse and repeat. At a cost each  time. (Or they just sell the jewelry at a big discount, recouping less than the cost of making each item.)  

 

Not sure I trust them with gold.  But of course we cannot exactly trust them (to make profits) using the cash either.
