Ford Motor sold more vehicles in July than it did in June . That's a solid result and the stock was rising Wednesday.
Ford (ticker: F) reported deliveries of 163,942 vehicles in July, compared with 152,262 vehicles in June.
F-series pickup truck sales jumped too, coming in at 63,341 for July, up from 57,673 in June. F-series trucks are high margin products for Ford.
Total electric vehicle sales hit 7,669 in July. That looks to be a monthly record. That's made up of 4,970 Mustang Mach Es , 2,173 electric F-150 Lightning pickup trucks and 526 electric transit vans.
Ford has delivered almost 31,000 EVs in 2022, up more than 90% from the same span of 2021. F-150 Lightning sales began in May and have totaled 4,469 so far. July's 2,173 was up from June's 1,837 figure.
All the growth has investors excited. Ford stock was up 2.8%. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average were up 0.8% and 0.6%, respectively.
The July reaction is better, so far, than the June reaction. Ford stock dropped 1.1% after reporting June figures. That month showed a sequential decline in overall U.S. vehicle sales.
Ford this year has delivered 1,079,762 vehicles in the U.S, down a little from the 1,116,714 delivered in 2021 over the comparable span.
