I had a CD mature this week so now am looking where to reinvest. It's in a Fidelity account so it will stay there and will also buy another CD.

The question is: how long a term should I get? The top CD rate now is 5.15% but it feels as though the rates are dropping. At Synchrony the top rate is 5% and it's just for 6 months. The terms available are 3,6,9,12,and 24 months (all at 5.15%). I'm leaning toward the 12 month but if this is the peak of rates, a year from now I might be looking at 4.15% instead of 5.15%. The difference isn't much, about $250, so it's not critical, but wonder what other folks are thinking.
